These are the terms you agree to when you sign in to Lagos Life. You tick the box before you sign in, because playing the game means accepting them. If you do not agree with them, do not sign in — you can still play a guest save on your own device.
Lagos Life is published by GreatCallie International Ltd (Nigeria). You can reach us at calistusokwudili@gmail.com. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and why.
Your account
- You are responsible for your username and password. Keep the password to yourself; anything done with your account is done as you.
- One person, one account. Do not share an account or use someone else's.
- Give a real email address if you give one at all — it is the only way to recover a password.
- Accounts may not be sold, traded or given away.
Playing fairly
The game is meant to be played through. The money, the skills and the day are settled by the server, which recomputes the economy rather than taking your client's word for it, and a save that invents money or skips a payment is refused. Do not:
- modify the client, the traffic or your save to fabricate naira, skills, items or a leaderboard place;
- attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or try to reach another player's account or data;
- automate the game to play it for you in a way that spoils the board or the chat for everyone else.
An account doing any of this may be reset or closed.
Chat and other players
- Rooms are public to signed-in players; a direct message is between its two members. Do not post private information about yourself or anyone else.
- No harassment, no threats, no hate, no sexual content involving minors, no spam, and no breaking the law. Lagos Life is not a place to abuse people because you cannot be seen.
- You keep your messages, and you are responsible for them. We may remove content or close an account that breaks these terms.
- Do not set up an in-game trade, bet or debt that expects real money to change hands. Lagos Life is not a marketplace, a bank or a gambling service.
In-game naira, and what it is worth
In-game naira is part of the game and has no real-world value. It cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another player, or redeemed. It can be lost by playing badly, and it can be lost if the city is rebalanced.
Top-ups
- A top-up buys in-game naira only. It credits a balance on your account, which you collect into the running Sim from the Bank app.
- Prices are ours and are shown before you pay. In the browser the payment is taken by Paystack; on a phone it is an in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play, and their terms apply to that transaction as well as ours.
- A top-up is spent once it is collected into the Sim. Because it is consumed immediately, a top-up is not refundable except where the law requires it, or where a purchase failed and the money was taken anyway.
- Nothing in the game is behind a purchase. A browser player is never pointed at a store from inside the game, and a phone build never points at a non-store payment.
How the game is provided
- Lagos Life is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, or free of fault.
- We may change the city — its prices, careers, venues, events and balance — and we may add or remove a feature, at any time. These are changes to the game, not to what you have paid for.
- We may suspend the service for maintenance, and we may close it altogether. If we close it for good we will say so in the app.
- Keep your own copy of anything you care about. A guest save lives on one device and cannot be recovered if that device is lost.
Our content
The Lagos Life name, the app, the code, the artwork and the icon are ours or used with permission. Do not copy, republish, or use them to pass off your own game as Lagos Life.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, GreatCallie International Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game, including lost in-game progress, lost in-game naira or a leaderboard place. Nothing here limits a right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be limited.
Changes, and which law applies
We may update these terms; if we do, we will change the date at the top, and a change that matters will be said in the app. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
